Facial Skin Care – How to Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize Your Face

  • November 24, 2011 at 4:33 am

Many beauty and skin care experts recommend that you follow the three step process of cleansing, toning and moisturizing your facial skin each morning and evening. Here are instructions for following these three steps:

When cleansing your skin, here are the steps to follow: First, you will want to wash your hands thoroughly (since you will be cleaning your face with your hands.) Use a well reviewed facial cleanser that is appropriate for your skin type (dry, normal, oily or combination skin). Use the amount of cleanser specified on the bottle (usually the size or a dime). After you have washed for a minute or so, be sure to rinse your skin thoroughly. (Step 1A. Next, you may want to exfoliate to remove any dead skin cells using a well reviewed exfoliating scrub. This mini-step, following the cleansing in Step 1 is optional.) Pat the skin dry with a clean towel. (Don’t rub, as this can be irritating to your skin.)

Step 2 is to use a toner (ideally one that goes well with your cleanser and is appropriate for your skin type). Apply a small amount of toner using a cotton ball or a cotton pad all over your face.

Following the toning step, you will want to moisturize (Step 3). Use the amount indicated on the bottle and be sure to apply the moisturizing lotion all over your entire face. Moisturizing is critically important, even for oily and/or combination skin. The key is to buy the right kind of moisturizer for your skin type. (The label on the bottle will indicate whether or not a particular product can be used for oily or combination skin.) You will also want to read plenty of customer reviews and professional reviews before making your purchases.

How to Eliminate Dry Peeling Skin on Your Face

  • December 14, 2010 at 2:41 am

Dry peeling skin is a condition that happens when dead skin cells are not sloughed off on the surface of the skin. It also happens when your dermis lacks enough moisture. It is a must to alleviate this skin condition because dry skin can trigger the development of wrinkles and fine lines on the dermis. If you are ready for a very effective skin care regimen, here are some of the steps to stop dry peeling skin:

Step 1: Use a facial scrub two times a week. A facial scrub will slough off the dead skin cells populating the surface of the skin which gives the appearance of a flaky dermis. It also gets rid of deeply-seated dirt that facial washes cannot remove. You can make your very own facial scrub if you want. Just mix fine granulated sugar with your choice of moisturizer. You can pick honey, olive oil or VCO and add that a bit with the sugar. Don’t mix it or it will dissolve. Lightly apply it on your dermis. After that, your skin will have this instant smoothness.

Step 2: Wash it off with a natural facial wash. It should not contain any alcohol-based ingredient as this can greatly dry the skin. Also, facial washes with benzoyl peroxide and similar ingredients are greatly drying for the dermis. Do not overwash your face as this can also zap the natural moisture of your dermis.

Step 3: Towel it dry. Pat it dry only as constant rubbing motion of fabric on the skin can also remove the innate moisture found in your dermis.

Step 4: While your skin is still a little damp and your pores are still open, immediately follow it up with a very hydrating moisturizer. Pick a moisturizer with anti aging potency such as Manuka Honey, Phytessence Wakame and Nano Lipobelle HEQ10.

Phytessence Wakame is a sea kelp that aids the dermis in getting rid of harmful enzymes that attack hyaluronic acid. This acid is what provides moisture to collagen and elastin. It is responsible for bringing forth dewy-looking skin. As for Manuka honey, it has deep down hydrating potency meant to get rid of skin dryness. And you should not forget about Nano Lipobelle HEQ10 as this will serve as your protection against harmful free radicals.

These are the simple steps to eliminate and prevent the future appearance of dry peeling skin on face. A simple regimen like this can do wonders.

Comparing Skin Care Products – The DermaNew Microdermabrasion Kit Vs The Clarisonic Skin Care Brush

  • December 4, 2010 at 9:06 pm

If you enjoy watching “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, chances are you have seen her segment “Oprah’s Favorite Things” which discusses innovative new consumer products. Recently she featured an item called the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush System, which is designed to remove dirt and oil from your skin, leaving it healthy and refreshed. However, another similar product offers all of the same features and benefits of the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush and much more, at less than half the suggested retail price: the DermaNew Microdermabrasion Total Body Experience Kit.

The Design of the DermaNew

The DermaNew Home Microdermabrasion Tool was designed by two salon owners in Beverly Hills, California. Finding that spa microderm treatments were costly for consumers and required the salon staff to have extensive training and expensive equipment, they designed the first DermaNew Home Microdermabrasion Tool. With this new skin care device, the average consumer can enjoy a full body micro dermabrasion treatment whenever they like at less than the cost of one salon visit. In 2006 the DermaNew System won the “Redbook” 2006 MVP Beauty Award, and has since been featured in “Good Housekeeping”, “Vogue”, “Cosmopolitan”, and “InStyle”.

What separates the DermaNew from skin care brush devices such as Clarisonic is the additional functionality beyond its cleaning abilities. Like its competitors, it also features a skin care brush with soft bristles designed for cleansing and polishing. Contrary to popular belief, however, a brush is not designed for deep cleaning and is not considered a form of skin treatment, so it fails to reach a large amount of dirt and oil in your skin and leave your skin in the best possible condition. To properly exfoliate your skin, clean additional debris, remove dead skin cells, microdermabrasion treatment is far more effective than a simple brush cleaning.

Accessories and Added Benefits of DermaNew vs. Clarisonic

The primary advantage of the DermaNew system is the price of the kit and the number of products and accessories that are included with it. The Clarisonic system includes two brush heads, the handle with charging cradle, and a two ounce sample of cleanser. The brush has an integrated rechargeable battery which must be charged using the included cradle. The DermaNew system includes microderm attachments for the face and the body, a callus softening tool, a skin brush attachment, a sixty day supply of microdermabrasion cream, polishing body wash, skin moisturizer, and batteries. The DermaNew uses standard AA batteries so that when you travel with the kit you do not have to worry about bringing a charger with you. The enclosed accessories for the DermaNew are all available separately and cost much less than the accessories for the Clarisonic.

The DermaNew is the Better Deal

When you consider the factors of functionality versus cost along with the added products that are included with it, the DermaNew Microdermabrasion Total Body Experience Kit is far superior to the Clarisonic Skin Care System in every way. Fully portable, very inexpensive, and designed for users of almost any skin type, the Total Body Experience is designed to give your skin the treatment it deserves.

Basic Facial Skin Care Tips

Most people are of the impression that a clean face indicates a healthy face and facial skin. However it is important to follow a skin care regimen that fits your lifestyle as in the long run your skin needs the same things that are needed by your body to stay healthy.

The first thing to take into consideration before starting on a regimen is to find out the type of skin you have. This is because different people have different types of skin, that need different types of products. People have sensitive, normal, oily or dry skin or that gets damaged by the sun and heat.

In addition to knowing your skin type, you also need to take into consideration the amount of stress you face in a day, the diet you follow, the medication you take and the skin history of your family. Whichever type you may have, your skin care regimen usually contains cleaning, exfoliating and moisturizing.

Cleaning is the easiest part of skin care where you have to get a cleanser that provides you with good results without irritating your skin. Once you find a cleanser that suits your type, then you can keep on using it.

Avoid using bar soaps on your facial skin as this damages your layers. Bar soaps should be used on the neck, down to the toes. Once the cleaning is over, you need to exfoliate it. By exfoliation, you need a product that helps you take off the top layer of skin while removing dead skin cells found here.

On the removal of old layers from your facial skin, you find that your face looks younger than before. However professionals suggest using microderm abrasion kits to remove your skin layer from your face only once a week. This is because your skin starts peeling if used more than once a week. When using the kit, ensure that the brush you use has fine and soft bristles.

The last part is the hydration or moisturization of your facial skin. This is an important part as it replenishes the essential oils that are sent out of the outer skin glands. It is the loss of essential oils that make the skin look dry and dull with its insufficient moisture.

You can provide your facial skin with its required moisture with a lotion or cream once you finish showering. However it is important that you use only a small amount of the lotion or cream as too much of it will only clog your pores, and stop it from providing the air it needs.

Following this regime along with healthy diet will ensure that you have beautiful facial skin.
